With this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD) theme to inspire inclusion, we felt it was apropos to share the thoughts and beliefs of our female-led team here at Channel Maven, a part of 360insights.
Having all worked in and around technology and the channel over the course of our careers, and experienced times when we felt excluded, not only as a woman but for a variety of reasons. Fortunately, this led to the DEI&B movement of which we are extremely active. In our daily team interactions and with our colleagues and our clients, we strive to nurture inclusive opportunities, and we do so by keeping our core values at 360 top of mind.
To that end, in honor of IWD2024, we asked our female Channel Maven "Insighters” to share their favorite company value and why it’s so meaningful to them. Here’s what they had to say:
It's not what we say, it's what we do.
Be accountable. Deliver on your commitments.
Heather K. Margolis, SVP Marketing (and Channel Maven founder)
This is my favorite value because as someone who loves to innovate and brainstorm, I always remind myself to also execute, follow through, and finish. Moreover, I love this value because it is about being accountable, keeping others accountable, and creating something we can all be proud of as a team. As we go through our busy lives it is important not to just think or talk about DEI&B but to actually live it. Within our industry I often think of Cheryl Cook as someone who exemplifies this. She is always working with her team to do more and do better for the great Dell organization and all their clients. She’s a generous mentor and involved in so many organizations personally and professionally. All in all, I have found this value a lot more in my professional and personal life and as we go through changes, the people who share in this are the people that I gravitate to!
Don't find a fault, find a remedy.
Be ambitious and realistic.
Jenn Reed, VP Channel Marketing
My favorite core value is Don't Find a Fault, Find a Remedy. This value resonates with me both in my personal and professional life. At the end of the day, whatever it is, it happened. Yes, we can and should learn from issues and mistakes, but rather than placing blame (which truly is not productive whatsoever my opinion), I encourage and foster a "let's move on" mentality and an environment that is collaborative and works toward a positive resolution. When working to solve problems, I always ask myself what's in the best interest of my team, my client, my family, my friends, and yes, even myself sometimes. 2024 marks my 30th year working in Tech. Throughout my career I've witnessed so many changes in the industry, especially as it relates to women, particularly around inclusion. And most fortunately, I have had some amazing female mentors, most notably Pamela Brady and Anne Brames, who role modeled this value for me, and in turn I try to do the same for my female colleagues. With age comes wisdom and each day I try to inspire inclusion through this value, by reminding my team to lead with empathy. Seek to understand, avoid blame, and work together toward a positive solution. The best part? You will not only feel better, but you will also enjoy the taste of success, and there is no better motivator in my opinion.
Marilyn Rogers, Director Consulting & Digital Strategy
In the early stages of my career, one of my favorite mentors gave me a piece of fantastic advice: one should never present a problem without offering a solution. This wisdom has remained with me throughout the years, and when I first learned about 360insights' core values, one value, 'Do not find a fault, find a remedy,' resonated deeply with me. It encourages an inclusive and forward-thinking mindset, promoting the notion that everyone has a role to play in contributing to solutions rather than merely pointing fingers. Personally, I believe that it holds immense power to inspire inclusion at every level, from individuals to teams, and up to leadership. A culture where solutions and progress are the focus, rather than dwelling on problems, can be truly transformative!
Be a fountain, not a drain.
Give more than you take.
Akilah Murrell, Sr. Manager, Channel Marketing
This is my favorite core value and I embody it, both personally and professionally. It is important to me to embrace how I show up, what I say and do – it’s truly contagious. Passion in individuals has the potential to ignite the same in others – and when it’s applied in all undertakings, the skies the limit! This value allows me to inspire inclusion because it echoes, “I belong, and I am worthy.” An invitation to the dance is not enough, but the liberty to dance in a unique manner with acceptance that follows, translates to inclusion for me personally. Because I pour into others with encouragement and inspiration, I’ve learned it only makes room for others to pour into me – and so the cycle continues! I would like to toast the amazing women I get to work with. For whom they are, for their support and encouragement. Thank you!
Emily Supernavage, Sr. Manager, Channel Marketing
This is my favorite because I strive to embody the essence of a fountain, continuously giving and enriching those around. Through positivity and knowledge, my goal is to always see the big picture, predict needs and proactively deliver on them. In the same way I encourage and support my team in any way that I can.
To me being a fountain represents positivity, hope, and purpose that inspires others. As we support gender equality, it paves the way for a better future where every woman feels valued, heard, and empowered to fulfill her potential. This core value breaks down barriers, breaks stereotypes, and creates a way where women's voices are not just heard but celebrated.
Let's keep being a source of positive change, progress, and empowerment that lifts without tearing down. Happy International Women's Day!
Be real, have fun.
Be your whole self at work. Create an experience for everyone to do the same.
Allie Wall, Social Marketing Strategist
I love the 360 value "Be Real & Have Fun" because it emphasizes genuine connections and staying true to who we are. This value promotes inclusivity and self-expression, inspiring us to embrace our unique identities instead of conforming to societal standards!
'Be Real & Have Fun' #InspiresInclusion by encouraging us to be genuine and cultivate meaningful relationships based on authenticity and joy. It creates inclusive environments where everyone feels valued. I am inspired daily by the remarkable women at 360, especially Jenn Reed, who embodies this principle effortlessly and encourages us all to do the same.
Live in the possible, free of limitations.
Find the opportunity in every challenge.
Taylor Bennett, Content Marketing Writer & Strategist
I believe this value is the epitome of inclusion because it reflects why everyone deserves the right to be accepted for who they are without limitations. When we cut out restrictive beliefs about the way we envision the world should be, we build empathy and create opportunities for everyone to thrive and explore their creativity.
There are so many incredible women in my life who go above and beyond to ditch the limitations of what society places on them. This year I want to give a special shout-out to all my family, friends, and colleagues who are outstanding mothers and who are constantly faced with the limitations of others and rise above and do an exceptional job of teaching their children they can do anything their heart desires.
How Are You Celebrating?
It’s such a joy to see how we’re all creating an environment where everyone can bring their authentic selves to work each day.
We’d love to know how you’re inspiring inclusion in your world. Remember, even the smallest actions can spark big changes. So, let's celebrate International Women's Day together by taking steps towards a more inclusive future!
