Why be social at events in the first place? You have enough to do for your upcoming event already, right?
There are actually quite a few benefits to creating a social strategy for your next event. For example, using Twitter, Facebook, a blog, and LinkedIn can help drive customers to your booth, increase sales, drive their interest in what you do, and provide valuable insights.

1) Create a goal. What are you trying to achieve? When you think of new tactics or techniques, come back to the initial goals you set to help you keep focused.
2) Define your audience. Knowing who you’ll be communicating to and what their needs are will help you create direct, useful communications. Keep in mind, you probably have more than one audience.
3) Create your overall marketing plan and editorial calendar and overlay it with social media activities that will help support those efforts. If your goal is to drive 10,000 partners to attend, tweeting offers or interesting statistics may help drive attendance. (If you need an editorial calendar, download this free calendar we created.)
4) Think about the timing of the event and start planning a couple of months out if you can. Also note whether the event is 100% in person or is there a virtual component as communications for each audience will vary.
5) Listen. Do you have a way to watch what people are saying, respond, and monitor overall discussions on a given topic? Listening is key if someone needs help, offers a suggestion, or wants additional information.
