Things You Should Do During COVID-19

Written by Channel Maven | March 24, 2020

The uncertainty around Coronavirus has completely disrupted the way people do business together, and has created a new work-from-home normal. Here are some things that will help you work smarter during the days of virtual, at-home business operations:

Make Sure Messaging and Communication is Bite Sized.

People are scrambling to figure out how to keep their lives and businesses moving as normally as possible. Everyone has different priorities, and distraction is at an all time high. Make sure your communications are short and sweet, and sent via social media.

Avoid Using Unnecessary WIFI Bandwidth.

With the entire family working and learning from home using the same network, bandwidth issues are unavoidable. Consider decreasing the amount of video you create, send and stream.

Pay Attention and Follow Internet Security Best Practices.

If your WIFI password is your dog’s name, it’s time to change it. Make sure to create a strong and unique password, and take the necessary precautions to protect your networks, devices, programs, and data from attack, damage, or unauthorized access.

Protect Yourself Against COVID-19 Cybersecurity Schemes and Hackers.

Hackers know that everyone is currently working from home on unsecured WIFI networks. They’re also using new phishing strategies by creating fake COVID-19 tracking websites and links to inject malware and steal your information. Be diligent, avoid clicking on suspicious links and run antivirus scans like Malwarebytes on a regular basis to stay safe and productive.

Set Yourself up for Logistical Success!

Whether you’re working at your kitchen counter or confined to a card table in a spare bedroom, it’s important to set your workdays up for maximum productivity. Bring everything you need from your office to your home, and create a workspace that mimics what you’re used to. Watch this video for additional tips and tricks for remote and dispersed teams.

Get Out of Your Own Head!

We used to have decompression time between work and home, even if it was just the evening commute. Now that everything’s under one roof, it’s crucial to find ways to keep yourself energized and mentally healthy. Go for walks, practice at-home fitness, listen to music...whatever gets you out of your own head!

Prepare Yourself for the Long Haul.

Things aren’t going to change overnight. It’s important to remember that everyone is in the same boat, trying to figure out how to best navigate life and business during this uncertain time. Determine what works best for you, and support others in any way you can!
