Happy Birthday Channel Maven! Reflecting on 10 Years of Change and Growth

Written by Lisa Deison | March 15, 2019

As Channel Maven's longest-running employee, Lisa has a unique perspective on the company and in honor of CMC's 10th Birthday this month, she offered some words of gratitude for the talented team, pet-loving culture, and philanthropic opportunities that make the company so great.

Wow, Channel Maven is 10 years old! It does not seem possible to me, that almost 8 years ago I met Heather, originally signing on as a contractor for what I thought would be a single project. It's been a fun and exciting journey - working alongside a great team through growing pains and celebrating wins. When an opportunity like this comes along, you don't pass it up!

In The Beginning

Back in the summer of 2011, when I first met Heather, one thing that really stood out to me was the caliber of clients she worked with. Over the years, this hasn’t changed. As leaders in their respective areas, our clients are truly top notch and they inspire us to innovate and always deliver our ‘A’ game. As we’ve grown, their support has been invaluable and we are immensely grateful for it. Perhaps the best part is, all these years later, we are still fortunate to call them our friends.

In Channel Maven’s early days, we were a small group of 4 – 5 part-time contractors with Heather as our fearless leader. As our client base grew, so did our team; moving contractors to employees, adding more part-timers and full-timers as the years went by. We also expanded beyond Colorado, with members of our team in Florida, Washington, Minnesota and Oregon. We’re currently 18 and growing and I feel very fortunate to work with such smart, diligent, supportive, caring, and fun people who genuinely enjoy working and being together – how lucky is that?

Creating a “PAWsitive” Work Environment

Not only do we have a great group of people to work with, but many of us bring our loving fur babies to the office on a regular basis, which is always a plus! If you’ve ever stopped by, you may have had the opportunity to meet Zoe, our Chief Cuteness Officer, Sally Jones, Betty, Ajax, Sadie and Gus. And you’ve probably heard stories (and barking) about Morkie, Gibbs, Ozzie and others. On stressful, deadline filled days, their presence reminds us to take a step back and breathe. Thank you Channel Maven pets for brightening our days.

Giving Back to Our Community

Finally, one aspect I’m especially proud of is our philanthropic role in the community. In our early days, volunteer-work was supported by the company, but primarily done on an individual basis. Over the past several years, however, we’ve come together and seriously invested our time and effort as a team to “do good” in our community. From providing donations and organizing clothing drives to helping with yard work, it's been so much fun teaming up with organizations close to our hearts to give back. Some of the local organization's we've had the pleasure of working with include Boulder Emergency Family Assistance Association, Boulder Valley School District’s Share-A-Gift program, The Temple Grandin School, Boulder JCC for Dress for Success, and There with Care.

What’s more, 1st Bank even recognized Channel Maven as a top 10 “Business Doing Good” during their 2018 contest. What an honor!

All in all, it’s been such a fabulous ride working alongside a great team, succeeding together with our clients and making a positive difference in our communities.

Happy 10th birthday, Channel Maven! And heartfelt congratulations to Heather and all my fellow Mavens on this big milestone. Thank you for allowing me the chance to be part of your journey. It’s been a privilege to watch Channel Maven grow over the years and looking forward to many more.
