Breaking Records and Barriers with Dress for Success

Written by Heather K. Margolis | November 10, 2017

We launched a month long clothing drive to support Dress for Success. For those of you who don’t know Dress for Success, they're a non-profit organization that empowers disadvantaged women to enter and re-enter the workforce by enabling them through training and outfitting them with interview attire .

I must say, I am completely and totally flabbergasted by the response. We reached out to you, our channel community, as well as our community here in Boulder thinking we’d get maybe 20-30 articles of clothing (half of which would come out of my own closet!). What we encountered was empowering, humbling, and touching.

We collected a total of 447 items that we had the pleasure of delivering to Dress for Success Denver last week!

Thank you to our partner, The Boulder JCC for serving as a drop-off location and their organization, Women of the J who promoted this drive.

Why Dress for Success? We talk all the time about empowering women in technology and trying to get more women into the C-Suite. The first step is getting more women into the workforce in general and this organization speaks to that specifically.

How can you help? Did you know that you can do your own Dress for Success drive? Simply find your local chapter and ask them how. It’s really simple and for those of you who work on huge campuses you will be floored by how many donations you get. Put a drop-off location (hanging rack and a box for shoes, accessories and work bags) in or near the café or entrance. For those of you in remote offices, will your company allow you to use a company FedEx account to send donations to a location?

Have questions on how to make it happen? Don’t hesitate to reach out
